Hi everyone! Thanks for joining me.
I want to ask my school owners and educators some questions and share some food for thought.

1. Are you aware of the reasons surrounding your dropout rates?
2. What about the reasons your students are always late for classes, homework is incomplete, have chronic absenteeism, or have poor grades?

We often hear about the effects of social determinants of health on health and healthcare outcomes, but what about the social factors that can affect your adult students’ education and learning outcomes? These factors include but are not limited, to being a parent or a primary caregiver; lack of access to adequate resources such as safe housing, transportation, and child care. They may also be impacted by food insecurity, literacy, low self-esteem, motivation, learning disabilities, and culture or language barriers.

So, what are you doing or can you do to improve the success of your adult students’ learning outcomes? Do you have strategies to assess, monitor, and remediate? What about resources or alignment with resources to address some social factors impeding your adult students’ success?
Let’s think about these things and help our adult students become successful in and out of the classroom.
